III Free Culture Days have been a huge success.
This event, which is gaining more followers every time, took place on March 20 and 21, 2024, at the Fuenlabrada Management Building of the URJC.
This new call brought together students, teachers, and professionals from the research world with a common interest: promoting the use of FREE CULTURE.
The opening act of these jornadas was led by our Vice-Rector Mercedes del Hoyo Hurtado alongside Jesus González Barahona, who held one of our “Cafés with OfiLibre”.
We had the participation of several guest speakers:
- Remedios Pérez García “From Open Access to Open Science: Challenges of Technical Editing”
- Sonia Castro García-Muñoz “Open Data: Expansion Movement”.
Additionally, as a novelty, we had an afternoon dedicated to Open Artificial Intelligence, which included the presence of:
- Jose Antonio Gelado “Free Podcast. Podcast and Artificial Intelligence”
- Pablo Aragón “Wikimedia Research in the Era of Artificial Intelligence”
- Pedro Cuenca “Open Generative Artificial Intelligence”.
We cannot forget the Round Table (Achievements and challenges of URJC’s open-access journals: A shared dialogue with the scientific community) moderated by Tomás Zarza, who also had a small moment where he was introduced as the new Coordinator of Open Publications and new member of OfiLibre.
Walking around the fair, participating in one of the workshops, attending a theatrical performance, and having a coffee among people with the same concern for free culture have made these jornadas a unique event at our university.
The posters used were collected in this blog entry.
Thanks to all participants and attendees. We hope to see you next year.
