Open publication is something that concerns us all. That’s why having a basic knowledge as teachers and researchers is fundamental. In this talk, we will try to expand general knowledge about something that is unknown to many. But, what is open publication exactly? According to the Berlin Declaration, for a contribution to be considered open access, “The author(s) and holder(s) of the intellectual property of such contributions must guarantee to all users equally the free, irrevocable, and worldwide right to access a scholarly work, as well as the license to copy, use, distribute, transmit, and publicly display it, and to make and distribute derivative works […]” To summarize, we could say that it is immediate access to material of all kinds without any restriction. What are its advantages? It is an interesting outlet for publishing research works and teaching materials. In this talk, we will try to resolve doubts such as:
- Why are research funding entities increasingly requesting open publication?
- What impact does it have on teaching materials that are published openly?
- Why might open publication interest students?
If you are interested in expanding your knowledge in this area, come on March 9th from 10:30 to 11:00, in the Departmental Room I, Seminar 044 on the Fuenlabrada campus. We look forward to seeing you!
