The past days 18 and 19 of September saw the 2020 edition of the esLibre congress, held entirely remotely due to the COVID-19 health crisis. This year, the organization was in charge of OfiLibre, counting on the support of other communities such as Interferences, LibreLabGRX, Wikimedia España and many other people.

The event had a great reception, with over 200 participants who were very active on Twitter with the hashtag #eslibre2020.

Different means were made available to keep everyone informed and to enable the creation of discussion spaces. All this was done using free technologies such as BigBlueButton and RocketChat.

The talks and activities were very varied and included interesting proposals from different communities, ranging from free software and technologies to free culture, as exemplified by the room created by Wikimedia España. Additionally, the workshops provided a great way to put knowledge into practice. Here you can consult the entire program of eslibre 2020.

A fully immersive experience was possible thanks to the use of Mozilla Hubs technology, which allowed attendees to immerse themselves in a virtual world. This was a more intimate way of interacting among congress participants and had a great reception.

Even so, if you couldn’t attend and are interested, we want to inform you that we will soon publish the talks on URJC TV.
