The free software is everywhere today. Free software makes up the majority of the infrastructure of the information society, enables the Internet to function, is used in large quantities by many companies, allows for shorter and more efficient innovation cycles, and is central to the concept of open science…
And yet, free software remains largely unknown. Not only because we often use free software without realizing it, but also because in many cases we don’t have a clear idea of what conditions a program must meet to be considered free software.
In this seminar, we will try to clarify these concepts, explain what free software is and why it’s important, and also detail what you need to do if you want the software you’ve programmed to be free.
So if you’re interested in knowing what free software is, if you want to know what advantages it has, or distribute a program as free software, or more specifically what you would need to do to publish your programs (for example, your research results, or the program you’re doing for your thesis) as free software, come to the seminar.
