A password manager or administrator is a computer program used to store a large number of username/password pairs. The database where this information is stored is encrypted with a single key (master password; in English, master password), so that the user only has to memorize one key to access all the others. This facilitates password administration and encourages users to choose complex passwords without fear of not being able to remember them later.
