Florencia Claes, a professor of Multimedia Communication at URJC and President of Wikimedia España, joins the OfiLibre team.

Since its creation in December 2018, the Office of Knowledge and Free Culture has been under the umbrella of the Vice-Rectorate of Quality, Ethics, and Good Governance. In 2021, it became the responsibility of the Vice-Rectorate of University Extension, where it can have a more direct link with other actors housed within this same vice-rectorate, such as the Library, the Publication Service, the Culture Area, student associations, etc.

OfiLibre is regulated by its creation act and by the Regulation of Open Access and Culture. Its purpose is to promote free knowledge and culture within the university community, including open publication, free software, and other manifestations, as a tool for transparency and openness of the institution to society. Its functions are, within these areas of action, to perform tasks of information, promotion, coordination, and facilitation, in collaboration with all agents.

Jesús González Barahona and Francisco Gortázar have been at the helm of OfiLibre since its beginnings, and now Florencia Claes joins them. The three of them form a team that distributes their functions as follows:

  • Jesús González Barahona. Coordinator of the Office of Knowledge and Free Culture
  • Francisco Gortázar. Coordinator of Free Software
  • Florencia Claes. Coordinator of Free Culture

But… where is OfiLibre?
