The 2020 edition of the esLibre congress, on free technologies, will take place at the URJC, on June 5th and 6th. OfiLibre will coordinate the organization, in which the ETSII and the ETSIT of our University will collaborate.
esLibre is a meeting of people interested in free technologies, focused on sharing knowledge and experience around them. In the next edition, we also expect to approach the community interested in Free Culture.
In a certain sense, esLibre tries to recover the spirit of the Hispalinux Congresses that took place about 20 years ago, when free technologies were still a novelty.
esLibre 2020 is aimed at anyone interested in free technologies, and intends to offer contents and activities that are interesting for both experts in these topics, and for people who are just starting to approach them.
The congress will be structured into:
-
Plenary sessions. Presentations of special relevance, oriented to all attendees. Organized by the general organization of the congress, partly through open call, partly by invitation. During their celebration, there will be no other parallel sessions or workshops scheduled.
-
Parallel sessions. Specialized presentations, grouped thematically into “rooms” (devrooms). Some of these rooms may be proposed by the general organization, and organized by it (perhaps co-organized with other institutions), but in general, they will be the result of an “open call for rooms”, to which groups that want to organize them will apply. The groups that are selected after that call will be in charge (normally through open call, but also in some cases through invitation) of organizing the program of each room, and of managing them. There will be up to a maximum of 10, possibly between 6 and 8 parallel sessions simultaneously.
-
Workshops. Up to a maximum of 4 (but depending on the campus where it takes place, perhaps only one or two) simultaneous workshops.
-
Community tables. In principle, up to a maximum of 8 (although it could probably be expanded). Each table will be dedicated to a project or a group.
During the month of January, we expect to publish the open calls for contributions to the congress program.
