In OfiLibre, we often receive many inquiries about the use of free materials, licenses, free software, etc. We don’t always have an answer for everything ;) So when we have doubts, we seek help by consulting experts.
On this occasion, we contacted Javier de la Cueva, a lawyer specializing in digital rights, to ask him about the use of CC-BY and CC-BY-SA licenses in materials we generate within the university.
The inquiries we made to him arise from the Open Course Call. They involve two quite common scenarios within the development of our teaching activity. Can we assign free licenses to our material if it contains images or excerpts from other materials?
Here is the detailed report sent to us by Javier de la Cueva.
And if you have more doubts… don’t hesitate to ask us!
