TRANSLATION / LINGUISTIC REVIEW SERVICE FOR PDI URJC SCIENTIFIC ARTICLE EXPENSES
One of the priority objectives of the Own Program for the Promotion and Development of Research at Rey Juan Carlos University is to increase the scientific production of teaching and research staff at the University and disseminate it.
The creation of the aid for the translation/review service for scientific article expenses of PDI URJC aims to subsidize the open-access publication costs generated.
On October 22, 2003, the Berlin Declaration defines “Open Access” as:
“The author(s) […] must guarantee the free, irrevocable, and worldwide right to access the work, and license to copy, use, distribute, transmit, and publicly display it, and to make and distribute derivative works […]’’ (https://openaccess.mpg.de/Berlin-Declaration)

To fulfill this purpose, the University has allocated a specific budget item within its 2020 expenditure budget, incorporating the necessary credits to cover the expenses derived from publishing articles and/or chapters in international indexed journals and/or prestigious editorial houses.
What is the application period?
The call is OPEN from the day following the publication date in the official URJC bulletin board until December 31, 2020, or until the budget allocated for this concept is exhausted during 2020.
Who is this aid intended for?
- To cover the publication expenses of articles and chapters in international indexed journals and/or prestigious editorial houses.
- Teaching and research staff who are providing services at Rey Juan Carlos University in an active or assimilated situation as of the publication date of this call in the official electronic bulletin board of Rey Juan Carlos University and maintain their administrative situation until the favorable resolution of the expense file.
- Research staff contracted with public funds or grants to finance these contracts, belonging to Rey Juan Carlos University, and extending their connection with the University until at least December 31, 2020.
What are the requirements?
- The applicant must appear in the open-access published article for which they are requesting reimbursement of publication expenses with affiliation “Rey Juan Carlos University” or, if the journal so requires, “Rey Juan Carlos University”, and must appear first or as the “corresponding author”.
- The contribution must be published in an international indexed journal and/or prestigious editorial house that has a selective procedure for accepting originals according to the “Scholarly Publishers Indicators” system.
What incompatibilities does this aid present?
- Any aid, subsidy, or financing from public or private entities for the same purpose, so authors cannot apply under this resolution if they are part of a project or research group that has its own funding source for the same purpose and it has not been exhausted.
- Simultaneous application for any aid for the same purpose that is convened with own funds from Rey Juan Carlos University, different from those of the Research Vice-Rectorate.
